How to Make It
The What's Up, Doc Cocktail Story...
This bright and fresh bourbon cocktail was initially created by Eduardo "Eddy" Rocha, lead bartender at SaltRock Southwest Kitchen Amara Resort & Spa in Sedona. It features freshly juiced carrot and ginger with bitter, herbal Ferrnet-Branca, fresh lemon juice, and an aromatic herb garnish. I did not add ginger in this specific recipe, but I suggest you add a touch of ginger juice before you try without it.
"Eddy, the creator, says nature has created a perfect cocktail from most fruits and vegetables. All you need is to extract the essence of the fruit and let it balance out." For example, I love a shot of bourbon and freshly juiced apples. It's so simple yet so delicious.
A cocktail made from freshly juiced produce (rather than pre-made) tastes more vibrant and fresher. The main differences are in the absence or oxidation of stabilizers and the presence of packaging. This is the most accurate statement regarding cocktails' most common ingredients: fresh lemon, and lime juice are the best; there are no real alternatives to these two ingredients.
After mastering the What's Up Doc cocktail, you can use your juicer for cocktails like the Cucumber Cleanse! Or you can create something of your own.
