The Singapore Sling Cocktail Story...

Singapore Sling was invented in the early 20th-century at Long Bar, Raffles Hotel in Singapore. Ngiam Tong Boon, Raffles bartender, created the original recipe. It is a variation on the Gin Sling (a single-serving punch).

This complex cocktail includes Grand Marnier and cherry liqueur and an herbal liqueur (Benedictine), bitters, and club soda. Harry Craddock published the first version of this recipe in The Savoy Cocktail Book, a 1930 classic.

The Singapore Sling can be tart, refreshing, and delicious when made with exact measurements. The Long Bar offers two versions of its famous cocktail: one made from a pre-mixed batch, which tastes like fruit punch, and the other made with fresh juices and shaken by hand. Although cocktails are subjective, the cocktail experts give the second version a thumbs up.

The Singapore Sling is complex, nuanced, and rich in ingredients. You can experiment with it. The "classic" cocktail is based on nostalgia and general notes. Many modern versions of the classic cocktail are heavily sweetened with pineapple juice and grenadine, switching out the fresh citrus and herbal liqueurs. This recipe is as close to the original as you can get. It's strong, fruity, and herbaceous. You can make your version after you give this a try!
