The Monte Cassino Cocktail Story...

The Last Word cocktail is most likely something you have tried. If you have, you will be familiar with the complex flavor profile of green Chartreuse mixed with citrus, a spirit, and another distinct liquor!

The Last Word is a unique drink. Many variations have been created over the years, thanks to its singularity. For example, take the Monte Cassino I provide you with today. This variation was created in 2010 by Damon Dyer (New York City bartender). The recipe switch uses rye whiskey instead of gin, yellow Chartreuse instead of green, benedictine instead of maraschino, and lemon juice instead of lime! Completely different ingredients, yet very similar!

Dyer's Monte Cassino derives its name from the rich and fascinating Benedictine history (Monte Cassino, Italy, is where the Benedictine Order is believed to have been established).
