Jeffrey Morgenthaler created this cocktail in 2004 at the Bel Ami Lounge in Oregon, USA. Jeff named the drink after a band! A band Tony Figoli, an old business partner to jeff, was playing in years before the creation of this drink; Jeff has said that he thought the name of the band was brilliant and wanted to commemorate the band and his preferred spirit with a cocktail creation, so that is how the bourbon renewal came to existence.
